We held the second round of our autotest championship at Delamont Country Park on the 14th March. The event attracted 19 entrants of which 18 finished with David Gomes having to retire due to a broken driveshaft. The weather unlike at our first round was kind to us and the rain stayed away all day much to the delight of the timekeepers and marshalls after their soaking at Nutt’s Corner two weeks previous.
Before the autotest we held another of our tutorials and had a few people attend to be shown various manovers from George McMillan. We hope that those who attended found this useful as quite a few commented on the beginners good driving on the day.
Colin Earney had set up three tests for the various drivers to complete. Tests one and two were to be completed four times each and the final test as we now come to expect was the two joined up and ran once due to time constraints.
After the nine tests it was James Wilson in the Mini who came out on top 24.8 seconds ahead of second place George McMillan in the lightweight Nova.
