ROBIN LYONS WINS AT CROSSGAR
The weather stayed dry for our evening autotest at Carlisle’s Fuels in Crossgar on Thursday 23rd May. The tests, devised by Stephen Dawson, were as open and flowing as the site would permit and allowed the MX5s to show their speed with some tight moves too.
Winner overall was, unsurprisingly, Robin Lyons in the Mini Special, ably assisted by Boo McCurry who was called upon to change a broken driveshaft and allow Robin to finish his runs. Second place went to Andrew Earney in the lightweight Mini with Jeremy Tomalin in his Ford Special. Then followed the MX5’s driven by Gareth Dillon, Angus Johnson and Jack Brien. First MG home was Gordon Buckley in the Mk2 Midget.
Class winners were as follows:
Class 4 – Gordon Buckley
Class 5 – Robert Haslett
Class 6 – Gareth Dillon
Class 7 – Andrew Earney (in lieu of overall winner)
Class 9 – Sam Dougan
Congratulations to Robin and all winners. Thanks especially to our marshals, some of whom came from other clubs to give us a hand. Very much appreciated.
See you at our next event.
