The 12th September seen 41 drivers descend upon the Kings Hall in what would be one of the last motorsport events to be held on the site before demolition works. In a one off charity autotest four car clubs and ourselves came together to raise money for two charities, NI Cancer Fund for Children and The Samaritans Belfast.
With the large number of entries and the weather forecast not looking to promising the event got underway sharp at 10am. Each driver would complete six tests four times each, dropping their lowest scoring round. As a well-earned bonus at the end all six tests were joined to make one large test lasting around the four minute mark.
The whole day stayed dry and the event wrapped up around 4pm with Richard Earney taking the win in his Mini Clubman. Piers Mac Fheorais who had travelled up from the South on the day in his Mazda MX5 finished just 2 seconds behind in second place. Andrew Earney, brother of Richard, rounded off the top three in his Toyota Starlet.
The event raised over £800 which will be split between the two charities.
